The magical land

Once upon a time in a land far away there was a village,a very small village. In that village there were two children their names were Lily and Jack. Lily had long brown hair and Jack was tall with black hair.
Jack was brave and Lily had many fears.
They lived with their father who was very poor. Every day the children would use their last pennies and go and buy some food from the village.
One cold day Lily was walking down the street when she spotted an old man, Jack was in the bakery getting some bread,when he came out he got a shock! The old man made the children disappear into a sugar sparkling ginger bread house. Lily was very smart and she figured out that the old man was a wizard.They tried to find their way back but they couldn't. They were trapped. So they had to stay the night in the ginger bread house.
The next morning Lily was looking for help when she saw a garden,the smell was wonderful she couldn't help not going to it.When she got there,she saw heaps of flowers and trees especially manuka trees. Jack was looking for food. Lily called ''Jack look what I've found''What''? He came running Lily showed him the garden he was amazed.That night while the children were eating some delicious lollies with hot chocolate they had figured out a plan.The plan wasn't easy but it was worth it. Every day they keep on seeing an eagle flying around. The eagle was gigantic and the children were pretty sure that they could both sit on it.So they fed the eagle each day and tried to convince the eagle to give them a ride back home.They kept feeding the bird for ages and finally it let them on him. Lily suddenly cried out ''I'm scared of eagles'''' There fine this ones friendly, come on, hop on''said Jack, Lily slowly hopped on the eagle and he flew them back to their father. The children got known as brilliant children.

How cows make milk

A cow makes milk by eating grass, so they have to eat 70kg of grass to process milk,but how is it made?
First the  grass goes through the first two of the cows stomachs.
Next the cow burps which is made into cud. Cud is chewed for 1 minute. Cud travels through the
next two stomachs and is crushed up into small pieces.
Then the nutrients from the small pieces is absorbed into bloodstream.
This will help the cows make milk.
At last the cow gets milked and the milk goes away into the dairy trucks, to the factory.
Finally the milk is taken to the supermarket, where it is bought.

Earthquake 3

Monday 13th June 2011 When the 6.3 quake happend everyone screamed,cried and ran to adults.                       I was luckly at home with my family but it was still very shakey, it was like being in a ship wreck and waves crashing every where.                                                                                                                                            

My Persuasive Comic Life

This term we have been looking at persuasive writing.
We looked at the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears. We talked about whether she should have gone into the house or not. Here is my poster.

Green fingers

In room 9 our topic is green fingers.I have got a few pictures of ;plants seeds and flowers.Firstly I am going to write about flower walks and seed walks.Room 9 went on a seed walk a few days ago we had to hunt for seeds in school.We found quite a lot of seeds.We also went on a flower hunt which was really fun.I am growing my own grass too.There is a compition for which groups grow the fastest bean also.

Making Pancakes

A few days ago room 9 went into the hall kitchen to make pancakes.I was the photogrophy person.Everyone got a go at pouring,or flipping the mixture except me because I got  the privilege of taking photos.Here is a recipe of the pancakes that we made:

Ingredients - eggs, milk, butter, flour, banana (optional), oats(optional)
Method - Put 2 eggs into a bowl and then add 1 1/2 cups of milk and 1 1/2 cups of flour. Then you whip it up with a mixer.  Melt 50 grams of butter, add to the other mixutre and then keep on mixing.  Heat a non stick pan. Pour some mixture into the pan and cook until it bubbles and then turn it over and do the other side.
